September 17, 2024 - John 13-16

“. . . when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end” (13:1).  Jesus’ love for us is constant and never ending!  Furthermore, he clearly demonstrated his love for us through his actions, especially his willingness to go to the cross and carry our sins.  Paul wrote about such love as displayed by Christ and which we are to have for one another:  “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.  Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.  Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:3-5).

The look of love was on his face

Thrones were on his head

The blood was on his scarlet robe

Stained a crimson red

Though his eyes were on the crowd that day

He looked ahead in time

Cause when he was on the cross

I was on his mind.

He knew me, yet he loved me

He whose glory makes the heavens shine

So unworthy of such mercy

Yet when he was on the cross

I was on his mind.   –Bill & Gloria Gaither (2014)
