Mike Senior, whom we have know for almost 40 years and who is an elder at Kosmosdale Baptist Church, several times a week, texts beautiful photos with Scripture texts. Here, on Thanksgiving morning, I flipped back through some of his texts and pulled a few verses he has posted over the years, verses that reflect our own hearts full of thanksgiving to our God.
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!” (1 Chronicles 16:34)
“We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks, for your name is near. We recount your wondrous deeds” (Psalm 75:1).
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations” (Psalm 100:4-5).
“Let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe” (Heb. 12:28).
“Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?” (1 Corinthians 10:16).
With thanksgiving, Lord, we come
To lift our hearts to You in praise;
For all the wondrous things You’ve done,
Our voices now to You we raise!
All around us, Lord, we see
Your love and grace and mercy free;
All Your creation joyfully
Reflects Your pow’r and majesty!
Alleluia! Alleluia!
You’re our Savior, Lord and King!
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Your praise we’ll forever sing! --Scott Werdebaugh (1996)
