“And Jesus gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,
to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,
until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God,”
Ephesians 4:11-13
Ministry at Baxter
Teaching & Discipleship
Seeking to follow the example of the Bereans in Acts, who “received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily” (Acts 17:11), at Baxter, members are encouraged to read through the Bible, at least, yearly. Resources are provided to assist in this reading. Also, in regular gatherings on Sundays and Wednesdays, the people of Baxter come together to study the Bible, recognizing that the Word of God directs the manner in which we relate to God, to one another, and to the world in which we live. We study
the Bible in order to glorify God by living according
to his commands and doing the work he has
instructed us to do.
Music Ministry
We believe that music and singing are essential to the life of a Christian. God Himself sings over His people with joy (Zeph. 3:17),
and Jesus’ words dwell in us richly when we teach and encourage
one another by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs
with thankfulness in our hearts to God (Col. 3:16).
Baxter’s music ministry aims to worship God with excellence
in our music and serve our church family with songs that will
help them love God more throughout their lives.”

Missions & Evangelism
We desire to be a church that loves its neighborhood
with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the following ways:
– We seek to be a visible presence for Christ in our neighborhood.
– We seek to know and build relationships with as many
persons in our neighborhood as possible.
– We seek to become conscientious of legitimate needs in
our neighborhood and meet as many needs as possible.
– We seek to provide a worship service that is attractive and
accommodates the culture of our neighborhood.
– We seek to be a people who live out the radical message of
the cross in our daily lives and who are prepared to share the
Gospel at all times.
– We will seek to bring to every home in our neighborhood
the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Furthermore, as a member of Louisville Regional Baptist Association, the Kentucky Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention, Baxter Avenue Baptist Church seeks to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every person
in the world and to make disciples of all the nations.
